Book of Toxi - Chapter 9

1. And it came to pass, after I had defeated The half man half spider demon “Baracus”, and freed the captive children from his underground lair,I felt that I deserved the right to be initiated into Rugg’s clan of Junior Warlords.

2. Although I had done a great task, neither Rugg nor Master Cornpoggel was quite convinced that I was fit to be a soldier.

3. Since I had not yet earned my right of passage, the task was simple. I was to travel to a remote island and discover the mystery of the place that historians call the “Land of Identical Snowflakes”.

4. The rules were simple. “Take whatever weapons you want, but once you reach the Tree of No Return, you may only take two Items with you” said Lord Ruggilius.

5. The two sent pale the Blacklight Fairy to make sure that I stuck to the rules.

6. And I thought to myself "Not following rules is the reason I lost my wings in the first place."

7. That next day I set sail toward the Southern Star, which was said to lead me straight toward the island.

Time passed by slowly.

8. It was just 5 minutes after sunset when I caught my first glimpse of the island.

9. it was a sight for sore eyes, since I was now hungry, and imagined that this mysterious island must have a slew of wild animals that I could hunt down, and dine on.

10. snow caps could be seen on it’s mountain tops, which was odd to see on such a warm day

11. once I reached the shores of the island I realized that Pale had forgotten to tag along with me, but that would not stop me from honoring my vow of only two weapons.

12. I checked my compass for anything evil, but the needle pointed in no specific direction.

13. The water seemed to be the purest form of H2O, with clarity only rivaled by the springs of Hala’men

14. As I drank from the river I noticed that there were no animals around to be heard. Not even a frog.

15. An exotic island such as this one should be flooded with tropical life.

16. As I made my way up the mountains, behold the air became progressively cooler, and goosebumbs covered my arms.

17. I eventually came to a Large Magglwood. With a seemingly endless tunnel cut out through it’s center.

18. My map told me that this was the tree of no return, but the air was too cold for me to enter without my Snow Giselle suit.

19. As I unrolled my winter clothes, Pale sprung from the center of my hooded coat yelling “how dare you roll me up in there? No time for arguing though, hurry and choose your two items“.

20. “Hmmmm. I will take my sickle just in case I need to climb any mountains. And I will take my mask, because you never know where a goblin may be lurking.”

21. Leaving the rest of my weapons behind, I proceeded to walk the  ice cold tree tunnel

22. If not for the light of the fairy, it would’ve been as black as night.

23. The other side of the tree appeared to be a winter wonderland

24. The air was warm again and the mountains were beautiful, but there was something dark about this enchanted land of snow.

25. Maybe it was the peculiar silence of no life, which meant no chances of food

26. It gave me the deepest feeling of discontent, as if I were being hunted, so I put my mask on just in case.

27. I suddenly realized that Pale was nowhere to be found again

28. It was at that moment that from out of nowhere a giant claw darted toward my body barely missing me!

29. To my surprise it was a giant snow scortok.

30. How did an animal this large sneak up on me?

31. With no time to think, I waited for his next attack.

32. This time he missed and dug his claw deep into the earth, getting himself stuck for a few seconds, but a few seconds is all that was needed for a warrior

33. With my sickle in hand’ I jump bounced off of his stuck arm and jammed my blade into the shell of his forehead killing him instantly.

34. The sudden excitement left me even hungrier, so I decided to take the dead beast to a nearby cave and cook parts of it in a pot over a camp fire.

35. do to the previous threat, I soon forgot about the mystery of the identical snowflakes and engaged in a smorgasbord of prize food .

36. I don’t usually eat crustaceans, but I made an exception that day, and it was good
