D.O.A Autumn Tree by Ryan W

Every full moon, Magog would temporarily leave the kingdom. No soldiers would follow him, nor was anyone alerted of his departure. King Hector’s Minister of Defense was possibly the most evil demon walking the face of the planet. His power was beyond comprehension, yet no one had seen it with his or her own eyes.  That is, no one had seen it and lived to tell about it. As he left the kingdom, his cloak seemed to blend in with its surroundings.  But why would the king’s sworn protector ever leave his side?

The truth of the matter is that a hero is not always a being with extraordinary strength. Sometimes it is a boy or girl who has the courage to stand up against what’s wrong in the world. Sometimes it’s a man or woman who will sacrifice his or her own life to save the life of another. And with the birth of every hero in this world, an Ohm appears.

The Ohm represents a link between the hero, and his or her good nature. Innocence, if you will! Though they share this bond, it is rare that heroes get to know their Ohms. For the most part, Ohms are looked at as annoying creatures. They live life to the beat of their own drum. They eat all day! They have their own communities, and their own way of life. By most other creatures of this world, they are hunted, and eaten alive

Beast           One night, on a full moon, Magog lurked deep in a forest. Deeper than he would normally go! His blood boiled with hell’s fire as he darted through the wind on the back of his giant beast! The beast charged with all it’s might, never growing tired! He crossed rivers, and climbed hills, never stopping once. Magog had a thirst that needed to be quenched! Finally, to his satisfaction, on this clear spring night, he found an autumn tree. He kicked the tree over, and behind it stood an Ohm village! The demon’s cloak faded back to its dark red color as he approached.

In the village, the Ohms ate merrily. They cooked pork, and lamb; and slurped down the finest of strawberry coganut milk.  They laughed and chattered amongst themselves, just happy to be alive. To the untrained ear, the sound was like a bright collage of, “Ohm mu homu Ohm!”

As the demon chewed the skull of the Ohm, he felt the power of a hero fill his body.  He then jumped into the middle of the crowd and began snatching each Ohm one by one, ripping their bodies apart, and eating all he could! Though some Ohms did escape, many perished during this brutal attack! As Magog stood up, he laughed! “They don’t deserve this world,” he muttered.  He then turned around, and road away.

That night, a boy who had saved his sister from drowning in a river died from a fever. A woman who had saved her family from a demon’s attack died from a wound she had suffered during the incident. And a giant who had helped build a village for the homeless children of Orphanos dropped dead. Though not all the heroes whose Ohm counterparts had been savagely murdered by Magog died, many fell violently ill.

The next morning, the Ohms returned to their home, only to find the mutilated bodies of their dead brothers and sisters. Immediately, they began preparing the bodies for their ritualistic ceremonies. Blood and grey body parts lay all over their village.  The elder of village looked up at his living castle’s face and wept! Another one of the Ohms, who went by the name of Strings, sat on the steps of the castle, with his favorite instrument, the q-guetti, and gently strummed a sound only fit for paradise. The sound of his song brushed across the village, wiping the Ohms’ tears as they rolled down their cheeks. “Ohhhhm,” he hummed. “The other Ohms joined him in the Ohms’ chant as they prepared the bodies for the afterlife. What a sad day for innocence.

The End

Producers Notes - Posted by Stephen Knox

First of all, let’s pour out some strawberry coganut milk for the Ohm who can’t be here today. When Jason told me he had a new story, he couldn’t stop laughing. I thought to myself “What the hell is so funny?” Now I know; the mutilation and destruction of an entire ohm village. You see…Jason knows that the Ohm are my favorite creatures in the entire “7 Mages Universe”, so when I read the story, my heart broke into a million pieces (well maybe not that many). Jason is still enjoying this.

Back when I was in high school the ohm & the “Albino Ogres” were the 2nd & 3rd races that I developed (the 1st were the Estarians). So I’m more attached to them than most other characters.

Q-guetti

The favorite instrument of “Strings” the Ohm resembles a sort of funny shaped guitar. Inside the base of the instrument lies foam from the Sonic Bomb Flower. The sap is carefully drained from the plant and placed inside of the opening of the q-guetti. Once the sap dries it becomes a foam that vibrates and multiplies sound waves, thus acting as an amplifier. "Those clever little Ohm!"

Music

Thanks to Ryan again for another custom masterpiece. I know it takes allot to crank out something that good in a day. The best thing about it is that the music gets really soft at one point. Just in time for the reader to press play on the video clip and hear the hard tragedy music that goes with it.
