With her hair weaving patterns on it’s own quicker than usual, Helena sat hunched with her flute in her hand and surrounded by three demons. She was injured, but still had some strength left to keep a keen eye on their every move. As the demons circled her, they each dropped a pellet every 5 seconds that would burst into flames. Soon they were all enclosed in a small battlefield, 20 feet in diameter. The only way out was death.
Helena pulled herself to her feet, only to be interrupted with a swift kick to the small of her back by one demon. As she fell back down, the moonlight grew dim. Her grey eyes rolled back ever so gently, her hair stopped moving, and she blacked out. As each demon carefully circled her while moving in for their kill, they slowly stepped on small flowers. Unknowingly to them, each flower destroyed, caused more pain for Helena. With the pain growing more intense, Helena lay defenseless!
It is said that right before one dies, their life flashes before their eyes. But death is not always the case. As a child, Helena was blind. And though Cornpoggel took her in as his student, he always envied her impairment. Helena never understood this. At the time, she didn’t understand sight. But when she woke one morning at the age of 14 to her first sunrise, she never wanted to shut her eyes again! She told Cornpoggel as she sat with him by the lake, “I’ll never close my eyes!”
Cornpoggel smiled, “So you envy us blind folks who see only with our eyes, hmmm?” He pointed to her heart. “Sight is always within.” He then pointed to her eyes. “And never mistake these for windows!” |
For the next year, Cornpoggel only would train Helena blindfolded. At night, she would practice everything she was taught with her eyes open. To her, she lived in two different worlds, with two definitions of sight. One night, Helena left the home of her master to gather some water plumbs by a near by lake. It was cool autumn night, and it almost felt as if the world was asleep. As she walked playing her flute to the moon, she could feel the wind slightly turning. A cold front had blown threw in a matter of seconds! Suddenly she heard footsteps. |

When Helena turned her head, she saw 4 demons approaching! One was too quick to avoid! So she quickly blew into her flute! A silver dart flew out, and straight into the demons eye! She reached out to his neck, and broke it with one twist! As she looked up, a net flew around her; and the remaining three demons attacked! With a blunt hit to her nose, Helena’s eyes had become blurred! She kept fighting, finally freeing herself from the net! But she was badly injured! With her hair weaving patterns on it’s own quicker than usual, Helena sat hunched with her flute in her hand and surrounded by three demons. As she tried to pull herself back to her feet, she yelled from the sudden impact of a demons foot, to the small of her back! As she lay near death on the grass with the demons preparing their final blow, a trampled flower suddenly sprung erect! Helena’s eyes remained shut, but her vision grew stronger. She felt each flower lean towards her! She could hear each demons footstep growing closer! The fire breathed steadily through the wind. Leaves chanted restlessly! And finally, the wind shifted directions! As the flowers turned with the wind, Helena pushed her hand against the earth, and flipped back to her feet |
The Demons struck! But with every blow they took, flowers leaned with it, as did Helena! It was as if they were extensions of her limbs, pulling her into safe directions. The world outside of the fire began to spin, and her enemies had grown weary with confusion. With every move Helena made, one demon would strike another! With one swing, one demon struck the others head off! As he turned, the remaining went to stab Helena, but pierced his fellow demon instead! It was a fatal blow and the demon fell. It was a cold and quiet night! A small sizzle could be heard from the decaying demons bodies. Helena lay close to a near by lake with her hand slightly brushing against the currents in search of a water plumb! Her eyes were shut, and her breathing was quiet, but steady! Cornpoggel walked over with his cane, and Ruggilius close behind him. Cornpoggel spoke very soft and slowly, “Open your eyes my child.” Ruggilius leaned over to pick her up, but paused as she reached for Cornpoggel’s cheek. “They are,” she whispered. “They are.” |

Just in case you don’t know, Helena Is an Estarian (Just like Spring Daisy & Venus Flytrap). A powerful Estarian has control over small plant life as well as vines and leaves. Estarians also have the ability to control their hair. This technique is called the Medusa’s charm. Being that Helena is a first Generation Estarian, her potential of controling all plantlife may be limitless. |
